13 terrorists killed as Army, Air Force repel attack in Borno
In madugiri another Nigerian soldier was, yesterday, killed, three others wounded with no fewer than 13 Boko Haram terrorists decimated when the insurgents attacked the troops’ location in Northern Borno town of Kangarwa. The fighting, which lasted for hours, was said to have been so intense that the Army had to request air support from the Nigerian Air Force, resulting in the deployment of a fighter jet and a surveillance aircraft with which the terrorists were subdued.
It was learned that many of the terrorists escaped with bullet wounds from the ground and air assault. Confirming the confrontation in Abuja, Army spokesman, Col Sani Usman, said: “Troops of 119 Task Force Battalion, 8 Division Nigerian Army, deployed at Kangarwa, Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State, yesterday, neutralised 13 Boko Haram terrorists in a counter-attack carried out by the troops. “Unfortunately, one soldier paid the supreme price during the encounter, while three others were wounded in action. “The offensive, which began at 4p.m., lasted for roughly four hours, necessitating the troops calling for air support.”
